Under 17 Driving Lessons got off to a great start with our first event at Newbury College. Despite the rain we had 7 very enthusiastic young people taking part. Some had done a bit of driving before and some were complete beginners. The feedback from the instructors was that everyone did well even those who had never driven before picked things up very quickly.
Those who hadn’t driven were usually given a brief demonstration of how to move off and stop and were then talked through their first attempt. All the pupils covered moving off and stopping, changing gear, turning and emerging left and right in and out of side roads. Most also did a manoeuvre that included some reversing too. All of this was achieved in 1 hour of driving.
What was great was that the feedback was very good both from the young drivers and from the parents in comparison to what they expected and what they may have done before, with many people asking about future dates.
We all learned a lot about running such an event and will always be looking to improve the experience for both ourselves and the young drivers.

My son really enjoyed the session he had. I was allowed to sit in the back of the car throughout, which was good, as it meant I knew exactly what he’d be taught. The instructor was not fazed by this, and I could not fault her. She was really calm, patient, and encouraging. We would like to do another session please. Thanks.

I thought is was a good experience, which gave me a better comprehension of what driving will be like on the road. I feel much more confident from having taken part. The driving instructor was patient and nice, she gave me a good understanding of what i needed to do and this helped me to overcome these errors which i made whilst driving.

My 14 year old daughter absolutely loved her first experience of driving with Peter Skelton driving school. After a brief period of instruction in the car from Tomasz, her very calm instructor, she was driving straight away. As she was in an automatic car, she was able to experience moving off, stopping safely, driving round the course and parking in a bay! She loved every minute of it and wants to do it again. Great experience all round. Thanks!
